2020 was a different year for all of us… nonetheless, our team continued forward and delivered in outstanding fashion. Proof of this can be seen through the completion of our first LQ Hotel in New Zealand: LQ Kawarau River. LQ Kawarau River was officially opened last Friday the 11th of December, and welcomed its very first guests.
Our site teams at Newmarket and Wellington have also been doing an incredible job, advancing construction at an amazing pace, which continues to be a huge strength for Safari Group.

Newmarket after 12 months!
Amazing to see what the Safari Construction team can achieve on site in the space of 12 months! As you can see from the 2 comparison photos taken from 14th December 2019 up until now, there has been huge strides made. We started this year with a bare site, excavation and retaining walls well progressed and have finished the year with Building C and B roof on, façade 90% and fit out progressing at about 60%. Building A will have all steel up except the roof, façade about 40%, with fit out progressing on the lower floors. Podium level all poured and making great progress. Looking forward to the first half of next year where all will be complete ready for our purchasers to be moving in on June 2021.

December marks the 12 month mark since demolition started in 2019, it’s incredible what the team have put together in the short space of a year having the building closed in with facade and roof complete ready for final works to be complete. The fit out works have progressed through all hotel levels with painting and kitchen install occurring over the Christmas break (for most). Next year the team are ready for the final push to close out the Ground floor structure and remaining fit out works ready to open the building mid April 2021
