Role at Safari Group
My role as Development Manager at Safari involves being across multiple facets of the development process. It all starts at the beginning with identifying potential sites, working up feasibilities and sales schedules to see if the site works for Safari. If it is, well purchase it and start the consenting process, both Resource and Building – managing the design team until we have a package ready for pricing out to the sub trades which are then appointed to assist in the construction.
Along with this we also manage the funding side with the banks and assist with and sales & marketing so we can sell the hotel and apartment units. All in all with managing the Safari team, design team, bank QS, sales agents, surveyors, council and the like around us to successfully deliver a project on time and under budget (sometimes)
What you love about what you do?
I enjoy the fact that not every day is the same, you work over multiple facets of the development stage at any one time. One day you could be doing a deal with a steel stud sub-contractor and the next day your working with the bank QS to get bank funding and the next meeting with urban design panel on a new developments design. You cover so much of the development process and every day you are learning something new – so it keeps you on your toes. It’s always a great feeling being involved in a project right from the start and seeing it grow and completed (exactly how you planned it….mostly)
What you couldn’t live without
Family, Sports, Mates and Beers!
Other Interesting Things you’re up to
Pre Covid purchased a mountain bike so try get up to Woodhill and Riverhead forest as much as I can when it’s not too wet – spend most the time falling over and trying to catch my breath – no broken bones yet – but all in all great fun and keeping fit!
